An overarching approach that allows for inclusion of all of these theoretical models and more, however, is Contemporary Gestalt Psychotherapy, for which I have received extensive addtional post licensure training at the Pacific Gestalt Institute of Los Angeles.
Contmporary Gestalt Therapy
. ..is simply a way of approaching therapeutic goals by helping to create a a warm, welcoming and responsive environment - one that is alive and engaging, not detached or distant. Gestalt has been around for well over half a century, evolving with the times, continually reaching for a deeper understanding of human experience in relation to physiology, the environment, culture and relationships. Chances are that whatever might be troubling you, it's roots can be found not in some inherent impediment that you carry, but in a story of one or more failed support systems that have prevented you from experiencing yourself as fully as you would like. That's what Gestalt therapy seeks to provide, an environment in which you can face challenges and reach safely for untapped aspects of yourself that may lay in waiting. It is a collaborative adventure, a process of mutual participation. Gestalt is about wholeness
